An old collections trick often pulled on debtors

CA goes off the Deep End!

I got letter from ABC Collections today that says if I believe that my account listed with them is fraudulent then I need to proceed with filing a police report and send them copies of said report before they will agree to stop collection and stop reporting.
Has anyone else heard of this??

Debt collectors are always trying to pull this mean trick on debtors. Make them prove they don't owe the debt instead of doing their job and proving that the debtor owes the debt. Problem is they get away with it too. Never fall for this kind of skulldoggery. Tell them you don't have to prove anything. It is up to them to prove their claim or forget collecting it and get ready to pay for their violations of the law.
